Jasper Carrott OBE - Award -Winning Comedy Performer.

Born in Birmingham in 1945, Jasper’s first performance of note was as resident compere at the Boggery Folk Club in Solihull. There he discovered his talent for comedy, and his inability to sing, and the rest, as they say, is history.

In 1975 Jasper Carrott released his first single. Funky Moped / Magic Roundabout, which was a massive chart hit, selling almost a million copies and narrowly missing a Gold Disc.

Jasper’s break into television was with the LWT series An Audience with Jasper Carrott in 1978. This was followed by Carrott's Lib - a Saturday night comedy show broadcast live on the BBC - and then by a string of different shows. The most notable of these were Carrott's Commercial Breakdown, Carrott Confidential, 24 Carrott Gold, The Jasper Carrott Trials and Canned Carrott.

In 1992, Jasper Carrott was named BBC TV's Personality of the Year and in the same year teamed up with actor Robert Powell to record The Detectives. Such was the success of the initial series there have been four further series to date and a Christmas Special.

In 1998 Jasper embarked on a major UK tour. The tour embraced over 150 sell out shows in major theatres across the country including a sell-out fourteen night run at the Birmingham Hippodrome. 1998 culminated with the filming of a brand new six part BBC television series, Back to the Front.

In 2002, Jasper starred in All About Me – a new sit-com for BBC 1 Television, which has now completed three series. 

In June 2002, Jasper became a Savoyan, when D’Oyly Carte invited him to appear as Koko in their production of The Mikado at the Savoy Theatre, London.
 
In January 2004, Jasper returned to his Birmingham roots with a record-breaking season of shows at the NIA selling over 70,000 tickets.

In May 2005, Jasper appeared in the hugely successful play, Go Play Up Your Own End at the Alexandra Theatre, Birmingham.

Since 2007, Jasper as hosted the ITV1 gameshow Golden Balls.
