Soldier, Athlete, Inspiration… Micky Yule has a story to share like no other.
One of life changing tragedy, but also one of unbeatable courage, strength and profound inspiration.
From losing his legs to an IED in Afghanistan to enduring 40 operations and preparing to compete in the Rio 2016 Paralympics, Micky Yule has overcome levels of adversity that most couldn’t even imagine.
Micky now uses his story to motivate and inspire others all over the UK to take on the challenges in their lives, their businesses and their relationships, to be the best that they can be and to show them that with courage, strength and self-belief, anything is possible.
Micky Yule – The Soldier:
As a staff sergeant and search advisor in the Royal Engineers, Micky was 6 weeks into his 2nd tour of Afghanistan.
While 90% of the soldiers in Afghanistan were doing their best to avoid them, Micky’s patrol were tasked with finding and destroying the IED’s laid by the Taliban and make it safer for ground troops.
It was a normal day, his patrol had around 100 meters to clear, when Micky found what he was looking for, only this time he stood on the pressure plate…
As a result of the explosion, Micky Yule lost both of his legs and was medically discharged from the army.
Micky Yule – The Athlete:
With help from Help for Heroes and The National Lottery, in 2014 he came 4th in the Paralympic Powerlifting at the Commonwealth Games, later that year he won Gold at the Invictus Games.
He is also on track to qualify for the Rio 2016 Olympics.
