Linzi Boyd is a Savvy Entrepreneurial Brand Guru and a Best-Selling Author.
A serial entrepreneur, Linzi set up her first business (a premium clothes store in Leeds) at the age of 18, and sold it aged 20 at a time when most of her friends were studying at University and building up debt.
Four years later, when she was 24, Linzi Boyd sold her second company (a successful footwear brand), which had seven global distribution channels, to Caterpillar. The shoes were championed in the design Museum as design classics.
She felt empowered knowing that this rare experience at such a young age of learning on the job had given her so many insights.
Not having had a mentor gave her a deep understanding of the development of brands, channel growth, sales and marketing and a first-hand knowledge of how to own and build a famous brand.
It was at this point that Linzi asked herself ‘who would I want to have represent my brand – if I still owned it?’
Deciding she wouldn’t want the typical PR ‘IT’ girl but would want someone who would really think about the brand’s DNA, approach it with more depth and be result driven. They would think more about strategy and less about socialising!
So it was at this point aged just 25, with a self-taught knowledge of Marketing and PR, she set up her own agency ‘Surgery Group’, which started out as a PR business and has formed in to a group that BUILDS, RENOVATES and REFRESHES brands.
Boyd’s business partner, Caroline Gautier, joined the business in 2001 and now they now represent 50 + brands at any one time.
Surgery Group has become renowned for creating exciting projects, launching brands into the market and helping to transform labels such as Pringle, Wrangler, Lacoste, Ellesse and G-Star using Linzi’s signature 5-step approach as shown in her book ‘Brand Famous’.
