About Alan Chambers MBE – The Explorer:
Born in Scunthorpe, Alan joined the Royal Marines in 1985 and served 16 years as a Commando. He operated in jungle, desert, Arctic and urban environments and qualified as:

Between 1990 and 1994, he spent winters teaching Arctic survival in North Norway.
Alan’s North Pole Expedition:
In 2000, Alan planned and led Britain’s first unsupported expedition from Canada to the Geographic North Pole.

After 70 gruelling days, they raised the Union Jack at midnight on May 16, 2000.

Mission Spiritus Antarctica (2023–2024):
In December 2023, Alan completed a 1,130km unsupported trek across Antarctica as part of Mission Spiritus Antarctica.
The 58-day expedition supported scientific research for Columbia University’s Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory, studying the global impact of nanoplastics.
Dragging heavily loaded sledges from Hercules Inlet to the South Pole, Alan and teammate Dave Thomas arrived at the Pole on 19 January 2024 – once again demonstrating endurance, focus and elite performance under extreme conditions.
