Robert Garbett is an ex-army entrepreneur who ended his military career in 2007 as the UK’s top airworthiness specialist for the Defence Logistics Organisation. With his CAA Airworthiness accreditation, he embarked on a new career in software development and cybersecurity, eventually focusing on the fast-growth drone industry.
He subsequently founded Drone Major Group, bringing the world drone industry together, supporting buyers of drone and counter drone services. They also provide consultancy services helping companies realise what drones can achieve for them, and help deliver it. The company also encompasses the world’s largest online drone industry network.
What is a Drone?
A drone is not just a un-manned ariel vehicle (UAV). A drone is any un-manned system which is autonomously or remotely controlled, this includes driverless vehicles, driverless ships, driverless submarines, driverless aircraft and spacecraft, and any hybridisation of the latter.

Robert works closely with the British Standards Institution. He chairs the National Committee on Drone Standards, as well as acting as Convenor of the International Organisation for Standardisation.
Furthermore, he is the only authority worldwide to be advising on standards in Britain, Europe and worldwide.
He is recognised as a leading authority and advocate for the global drone industry, and it’s potential to transform economies.
Following high-profile drone incidents at Heathrow and Gatwick airport, Robert has been spearheading Drone Major Group’s Counter Drone services.
