Anita Asante is a former England international footballer with 71 caps, whose elite playing career spanned 19 years. A popular speaker, Anita delivers speeches on topics including Diversity, LGBTQ+, Leadership, Teamwork, Motivation, Empowerment and Overcoming Adversity
A commanding defender, Anita won major honours across England, the USA and Sweden, and represented England at five major international tournaments, as well as the 2012 London Olympic Games.
Asante began her career at Arsenal, where she was part of the historic 2007 team that won the quadruple, including the UEFA Women’s Champions League – a landmark achievement that remains unmatched by any English men’s or women’s side.
After further success in the USA and Sweden, Anita returned to England to play for Chelsea and Aston Villa.
Anita retired in 2022 with an exceptional honours list that includes a UEFA Women’s Cup, five league titles, four FA Cups and two League Cups. In recognition of her impact on the women’s game, she was inducted into the WSL Hall of Fame in 2023.
Since retiring, Anita Asante has become a leading football pundit for the BBC, Sky Sports and ITV, covering major global tournaments including the UEFA Women’s European Championships in 2022 and 2025. She was also part of the DAZN commentary team for the 2025 Club World Cup in the United States.

Away from broadcasting, Anita Asante is a passionate advocate for diversity and inclusion in sport, serving as an ambassador for Show Racism the Red Card and Amnesty International.
She is a sought-after keynote speaker for global brands including JPMorgan, Peloton, and Bank of America, and currently works as a coach with the England U23 Lionesses.
Through her work with The FA and The National Lottery, she continues to champion opportunities for young girls at the grassroots level.
In 2025, Anita was appointed to the Player Advisory Council for the Global 7v7 Women’s Football Series.
