Marina Purkiss is a political commentator and co-host of the refreshingly forthright news podcast The Trawl.
Before 2016, Marina was your average, politically apathetic 30-something. Fast-forward nine years, and spurred on by the EU referendum debate, she began to share her observations, frustrations, and often outright disbelief at the state of British politics with the Twitterverse. And people listened.
Today Marina has over 450k followers on X, is a regular panellist on Channel 5’s Jeremy Vine Show, and has been a knowledgeable – often outspoken – guest on LBC Cross Questions, Have I Got News For You, Good Morning Britain, This Morning, BBC Sunday Morning Live, Piers Morgan’s Uncensored and has also written for Fortune Magazine.
Marina Purkiss balances her newfound profile, plus two toddlers, with a senior management role at Adobe, where she oversees UK sports and brand partnerships. Leading the Adobe Women’s FA Cup is one of Marina’s recurring and highly visible roles.
Born to Sicilian immigrant parents in 1980s London, Marina’s working-class background and insatiable thirst for knowledge drove her to achieve a first-class Honours degree in Marketing from Portsmouth University (after snubbing a place at UCL, much to the surprise of her peers).
From here, she built the foundations of her career agency-side, before moving in-house for US fashion brand, Mitchell & Ness and then for Sky in the Digital Trading Team.
However, her move to Adobe landed the largest gains as Marina became proficient in engagement and retention strategies and maximising partnership rights value in a sponsorship and marketing landscape that has evolved significantly. It was also at Adobe that Marina learnt how to navigate a matrix structure, gain influence, and build her personal brand within one of the most recognised organisations in the world.
Marina has spoken and/or hosted panels at The Oxford Literary Festival, Paramount, and Adobe and regularly speaks on topics such as:
- Workplace Inclusion
- Relationship Building
- Growing Influence and Engagement
- Social Mobility
- Unconscious Bias
- Achieving Work Life Balance
