After Dinner SpeakersHenning Wehn is the self-styled German Comedy Ambassador to the United Kingdom!
This is not the easiest of jobs because Germans allegedly do not have a sense of humour. Henning does not find that funny.
He took office in October 2003 after watching an open mic night that convinced him that he wouldn’t be much worse. Wehn has been performing as the self-styled ‘German Comedy Ambassador’ ever since.
Whilst touring on his own most of the time, he sometimes appears with his countryman Otto Kuhnle. Their show 1000 Years of German Humour was nominated for the Barry Award at the 2009 Melbourne Comedy Festival.
Opinion on his stand-up is divided. Henning sees himself as one of Britain’s foremost social commentators, but everybody else describes him as ‘that German bloke’.

He is a recurring panellist on the Radio 5 Live comedy sports show Fighting Talk and on Radio 4’s The Unbelievable Truth.
In 2014, Wehn and comedian Mark Watson fronted a travelogue in Brazil called The Road to Rio for the Dave TV channel. In the show, they explored the country’s sporting culture, tying in with the World Cup.
In May 2015, Henning Wehn presented An Immigrant’s Guide to Britain on Channel 4.
