Journalist, Writer & Broadcaster

Nigel Farrell

Nigel Farrell - Journalist, Writer, Broadcaster and Entertaining Guest Speaker.

Nigel Farrell is a journalist, writer and broadcaster whose attempts to forge a new life for himself in the South of France caught the imagination of large audiences for his successful Channel 4 documentary series A Place in France.

Nigel Farrell has appeared in and produced a large number of television documentary series, including:

  • The Village (ITV Meridian)
  • Copshop (ITV)
  • Country House (BBC 2)
  • A Seaside Parish (BBC 2).

But it was his adventures with an old friend Nippi Singh in buying and renovating a ruined farmhouse in the Ardeche region of France in 2000 - filmed for a twenty-five episode Channel 4 series - that established him as a surprise television personality.

A second series in which Nigel Farrell struggled to set up the first Indian restaurant in the Ardeche with  the help of another friend, restaurateur Reza Mohammed, followed, and a third series for Channel  4, Nigel’s Place in France, in which Nigel attempts to set up a French B&B, was broadcast early in 2005.

Nigel Farrell also narrates and produces BBC 2’s highly successful documentary series An Island Parish, which follows the day-to-day lives of islanders on the remote Isles of Scilly.
