Ash Pal is a world expert on smart city transformation and a specialist on digital change.
Ash’s current work focuses on IT organisation and leadership matters – particularly around digital governance to help them become more nimble and entrepreneurial.
The focus is on the hidden people, organisation, and decision enhancers which are frequently and sadly neglected at great cost.
He is a strong advocate that city builders need to focus on “wow” – at a personal, organisational and city level and that the level of ambition of smart city leaders needs to be much greater to deliver the results that are possible.
Ash has over 25 years of experience in the Middle East including the UAE, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Egypt. He has been involved in some of the world’s largest digital/Smart City projects including Expo 2020 and Dubai’s aspiration to be the Smartest City in the world.
He is also a technologist who has delivered big changes at a city, company and individual level. He is a Fellow of the British Computer Society and has advised Chief Information Officers in the world’s largest and most economically important companies on digital leadership.
Ash Pal started in genetics and biotech but turning into an IT leader because the industry moved faster. He is a trained cognitive therapist because he found the subject interesting. Ash is serially curious about the world and now works with leadership teams on the challenges of digital – individually, for companies and for cities.
His most recent research (and the subject of his next book) focuses on what digital leaders can learn from surgeons and medicine about entrepreneurship, risk taking and innovation. It turns out to be a lot and some of it is surprising.
Ash has a highly engaging style and has presented and facilitated in board rooms around the world, at conferences, universities and training academies. Ash has spoken at over 200 client and vendor events in 40+ countries on 5 continents.
He always reviews client needs in advance and customizes material based on the client requirement.
