Dominic O'Brien
Dominic O'Brien is the eight times winner of The World Memory Championships.
This annual Championship, hosted and organized by Tony Buzan, sees top memorisers from around the world compete in a series of events, ranging from recalling a 1,780 digit number to 20 decks of cards!
Since he began developing his memory 17 years ago, Dominic O'Brien has gained many prestigious titles and has won many entries in The Guinness Book of Records.
On May 1st, 2002, at Simpsons-in-the- Strand, London, Dominic O'Brien set about memorising a random sequence of fifty-four packs of playing cards. All the cards were shuffled together and he was allowed to look at each card once only.
After 12 hours of studying the cards he then spent 3 hours reciting every single card in the correct sequence. He made 8 errors which was well within the half percent margin (14 errors) allowed by Guinness. This set a new world record: The memorization of 2808 playing cards which had all been shuffled together with a single sighting of each card.
Dominic was named Brain of the Year 1994 and was awarded the title Grand Master of Memory by the Brain Trust of Great Britain, October 1995 – presented to him by Prince Philipp of Liechtenstein.
